Walter F. Salter

hello everyone, this is my first strictly historical theme:.

walter f. salter was the overseer of the branch office in canada in years 1918-1936. in 1936 he was dismissed from that function, and in 1937 he was disfellowshipped from the organization.. does anybody know his further history?

did he join any christian denomination?

i should preface my comments by pointing out that i have no aversion to being disfellowshipped.

i fully expect that to happen.

all of my immediate family and a great deal of my extended family have moved on with me and we all enjoy a full and satisfying life.

In my experience, they don't have any bullets in their gun. They are nothing other than paper tigers and its wet paper tigers at that.

You have to speak out the minute you discern a deal-breaking falsehood. I did and just got told I was loved. Of course they didn't mean it. They just want to string you along.

If in truth, if you have family members who want you to stick with something so sick and silly, its like having family members who want you to remain on the Titanic while its sinking. Personally I'd rather get in the life-boat and push off.

In pushing off, you know what the others are like - some will tut and pull faces like they are sucking lemons, but other work it out and realise you are right. Which ones exactly? The ones that have common sense.

But if you don't have the courage of your commitment to walk, you stay in the trap. Then you can feel bullied because you don't have freedom of speech. Say it how it is, be polite and kind but tell them straight.

the longer i am out, the the less i understand the logic of this organisation.. i thought that the kingdom hall my wife attends was perfectly fine and adequate, in fact i liked that it sat in grassy grounds, surrounded by trees.

it probably wasn't in any dire need of re-decorating at this point.

others, obviously, thought otherwise and so the hall has recently been subjected to a make-over.. the parking lot has been extended in true joni michell they've "paved paradise and put up a parking lot".

Yes Blondie they are trying get them to get in and sat down fast. It's like musical chairs, make sure there aren't quite enough.

If anyone can't get a chair they are turfed out into a back room where they have to watch it on tv. There is zero tolerance on this, in other words, no, they are not allowed to bring a folding chair. This is making some of the usual late comers highly fed up and grumpy.

It is ironic that before the chairs were changed, there used to be more chairs. So they have deliberately bought fewer chairs.

A fact can be true or false. You have to assess the facts.

They do conjuring tricks with words. Just as the hand is faster than the eye with magicians, so a word, which people understand in one way, gets its meaning shifted around in their sentences. They are brilliant at it.

Yes they lie, they do not tell the truth. But they do deal in facts and in doing so mess up reason.

At a KH build the original chairs ordered were cancelled and another type ordered. It turned out that the elder who did this picked cheaper chairs and kept the difference. He did this without consulting anyone, and no one was brave enough to challenge him

I don't know the details but some years back (12 yrs maybe) something similar happened in ours. Wonder if it was for the same reason?

Anyway they've just replaced the chairs in what was my cong BUT there are less of them and they have to be arranged in a certain fashion. The number of chairs is based on the average number attending and if you aren't in in time you have to sit in a different room. I think they are doing this to make sure people feel they have to get there early to grab the best chairs.

Someone asked why they couldn't buy a few more chairs so there were plenty to go round. They were told it would not be fair on the African brothers because 1 extra chair bought for a UK cong could by whatever for the African brothers. So someone suggested buying the chairs from Africa because they are cheaper there.

Bottom line is - get there early or no chair.

the jws leaders have created doctrines to which the organization's followers obeyed accordingly which have killed thousands , destroyed families and indirectly caused numerous suicides.

these men have instituted such doctrines such as refusing blood transfusions, vaccinations and organ transplants at one time, they still uphold the no blood transfusion doctrine though.

People use the word 'shun' and it means one thing to them. To others it means something else, so I'm making the point that the negative aspects of shunning need to be clearly defined because on occasion it is wise to not have anything to do with some people.

Here's an example of what I mean using another word, the word discrimiate. Now if someone discrimiates against a person that's viewed as bad. But what if you discriminate when you choose a team member who you think will help you win a game? Or a discriminating art dealer who chooses to invest in a valuable painting.

The word discriminate immediatly makes people think of negative things but there are positive things too. Similarly with shunning, you might immediatly associate the word with negative things but there are times when its a positive thing.

Hi Finkelstein - I don't I just know - I was df'd a few weeks ago for saying 1914 is a lie.

Even if you see and witness someones behavior reckless and harmful to themselves and others you dont or shouldn't stop all contact to these people, not in today's understanding of human psychology .

Jesus ate with sinners but he was in control where and when he needed to be.

I watched a program once on a girl speaking to her father who had been abusing her. He wouldn't stop and she said these words to him, "dad I love you but I wish you would stop doing the things you are doing to me."

Now that girl, presumably removed herself or was removed from her father's presence. Until he changed his behaviour, how much interaction could she have with him?

Change the crime to theft, drug dealing or whatever. If you help someone and that is the life they live, their economy, their household, so to speak. How are they going to thank you for anything you do for them as a friend? Invite you to a drugs party? Make you a gift of something that doesn't belong to them?

Sometimes you have to step back from people, otherwise you are making a victim or yourself or you are potentially on the road to getting involved with wrong doing.

People can put themselves in positions where you can't help them.

A KH make-over suggests they wanted to sell it but something is preventing it. So they get the cong to donate funds for a make-over.

They did a similar thing with the chairs at, what was, my KH, until I was thrown out for saying the number 19 is followed by the number 20, not the number 2. Maybe they want to standardise maths with their own particular order of numbers with newly assigned values.

My maths teacher became a Watchtower user. When I tried to point at the anomalies to her she became indignant and said if I carried on like this I would stumble her out of the truth.
